GPL’s Ongoing Covid-19 Response

Effective November 16th, 2020

The Garrett Public Library cares deeply about the health and wellness of
its staff, its patrons, and the community. To help slow the spread of COVID-19, in accordance with the new Executive Order by Governor Holcomb, the Garrett Public Library is updating its operating procedures and guidelines. The Garrett Public Library will be referencing the map provided by the Indiana State Department of Health, found at https://www.coronavirus.in.gov/2393.htm, which details the weekly score of each county in the state.

No matter what color DeKalb County is colored on the map, the following restrictions will be in place until further notice:
• Masks or face coverings will be required by all staff and patrons.
• Items will be quarantined at least 24 hours before being returned to the shelves.
• All patrons are required to socially distance from staff and other patrons whenever possible.
• Patrons and staff are asked not to enter the building if they have symptoms of or have tested positive for COVID-19 or have recently been around anyone with symptoms of or have tested positive for COVID-19.
• Curbside Service of library materials is available upon request.

When DeKalb County is colored Orange on the map, the following restrictions will be in place:
• No in-person programming will be offered by the library.
• Each floor of the library will be limited to 50 patrons.
• Patrons are asked to keep their visits to the library to 2 hours.
• Meeting rooms will have a smaller occupancy limit that will be posted on the room’s door.

When DeKalb County is colored Red on the map, the following restrictions will be in place:
• No in-person programming will be offered by the library.
• Each floor of the library will be limited to 25 patrons.
• Patrons are asked to keep their visits to the library to 1 hour.
• Meeting rooms will not be available for public use.

We thank patrons for their understanding.
